WHY DO I CRY DURING ACUPUNCTURE?
|
Crying during acupuncture is not uncommon and can have several explanations. Here are a few possible reasons why you might experience tears during an acupuncture session:
- Emotional release: Acupuncture can sometimes stimulate emotional release, causing you to feel more sensitive and emotional. The placement of needles along specific energy pathways in your body, known as meridians, can trigger the release of blocked emotions. This can result in tears as a natural response to emotional release.
- Relaxation response: Acupuncture has a relaxing effect on the body and mind. As you become deeply relaxed during the treatment, it can create a space for emotions to surface. Tears might be a part of the body’s response to this deep state of relaxation.
- Reflecting on underlying issues: Acupuncture can bring your attention to underlying physical or emotional issues that you may have been suppressing or not fully aware of. The process of addressing these issues during the treatment can sometimes evoke tears as a natural reaction to the realization or release of pent-up emotions.
It’s important to note that everyone’s experience with acupuncture is unique, and crying during a session doesn’t necessarily indicate a problem. It can be a normal part of the healing process. If you have concerns or find the emotional response overwhelming, it’s best to discuss it with your acupuncturist, as they can provide further guidance and support.
